I had been born in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, but nothing prepared me for the majesty of the Himalayas; the views were breathtaking. I could feel the centuries of mysticism rising from those peaks like invisible fingers reaching for a part of my soul. I needed to get to those mountains, but to do so I first had to cope with Kathmandu, which posed many challenges. Once in the mountains I experienced many different types of terrain, flora and fauna which, combined with the views, created a magical visual smorgasbord… I had to carry everything I needed to survive in rugged terrain that had no hospitals or transportation should something befall me. Around me were typhoid fever, hepatitis and dysentery, on top of a constant demand for extreme physical exertion and overcoming fears. It was an unforgettable adventure that left me craving more of the natural beauty and rich culture of the region.
